Orphans.

its so hard to post about anything, when my thoughts are SO consumed by the plight of my friends in Haiti. honestly, if i could hop on the next plane and go there, i think i just would. there is so much need, so much hurt, so much pain...and its hard to operate in my daily life like normal when i am so distracted and consumed by thoughts of severe suffering in a place that i have loved so dearly for the last 10 years. so i'll wait just a bit more to return to normal on this blog...because posting about my newest craft or recipe just doesn't seem right today. but for now, please check out our webpage www.lespwaworldwide.com , a non-profit that we helped start 4 years ago to begin to raise awareness of the needs in Haiti after traveling there for so many years, specifically the great needs of the orphans. the world now sees what we've seen for so long, and for that, i am grateful.

here's a picture of the orphans living in the orphanage that God used Lespwa to help fund and build:
they all survived the earthquake...

I do trust that God is redeeming that land and that nation, as well as my own heart. i was reading in Psalm 16 the other day in The Message, and verse 2 says, "I say to God, 'Be my Lord! Without you, nothing makes sense." this is my cry today...i do not need to know everything, and i'm pretty darn sure i won't see the bigger picture of His plan on this side of Heaven, but i know that with God, it makes sense. so i continue to pray for trust...knowing that John 14:18 proclaims a very true promise from God: "I will not leave you as orphans; I will come back to you." so i can rest today, knowing that He is coming back to rescue is children.

hopefully tomorrow i'll post some pictures of some crafts that will be for sale on ETSY in the hopes of raising some money for Lespwa to provide for the serious needs of the people. check back...

Pay It Forward

I was lucky enough to be comment #1 on Junkgirls-studio blog..so I get to Pay It Forward!
Here is how it works...The first 3 people to leave a comment, on this post only, will
receive a handmade item from me within the next 3 months. Just one day out of the
blue, at no cost to you, a special something will arrive in your mailbox. Just to brighten
your day!
The turnabout is that you must choose to participate in the round robin of giving
yourself, by posting the "Pay It Forward Challenge" on your blog and partaking in it.
This will be so much fun! I can't wait to see who responds! Good luck!

Ginger's artwork and photography

Here is a sampling of Ginger's artwork and photography. She has an incredible eye for things and has enjoyed exploring with the camera and paint brush quite a bit.
This is her painting of a Georgia Okeefe creation called Poppies. We are hoping to put it over our mantle.

This bird feeder hangs in a tree right on our deck. What a beautiful sky she captured.

House for Rent

The birds moved out after the last storm tore their roof off. I can't blame them, you would think their landlords would at least fix the place up. We had about 5 hours of snow last night. It was beautiful and we enjoyed the best snow cream at midnight.
David left for New Jersey today, he is attending a training session for the new drugs that he will be peddling. Because of the huge crowd at the airport (who had been delayed the day before), David gave up his seat for people on standby and was given a first class seat. What a treat for him and an unexpected one at that. He flew into New Jersey where the storm was still active. Hard to believe they fly in this stuff.

Thought I would post pictures of some things I can't wait to see again. All the flowers and beautiful strawberries are from my dad's store and greenhouse. He has some of the prettiest in his area and truly the best produce and goodies for miles. If you are in the Morganton, NC area you must stop by and see him at the Penny Patch.

Today is a new day. I have been sewing since I was 13, wow 36 years is a long time and I still have so much to learn. #1 take more pictures, #2 don't assume you know it all, I really am excited to get this thing going before I have grandchildren. I want to do for others, and this is just one way that I can make that happen. So I'm hanging on and going to try to make a go of this new adventure. Happy sewing.
